How to use Barcode Generator

  1. Choose the barcode format, for example EAN-13 for retail products.
  2. Enter the number. For EAN and UPC you can leave out the last (check) digit.
  3. Download the barcode as PNG or SVG and test it with a scanner or phone app before printing.

Frequently asked questions

Is the check digit calculated automatically?

Yes. For EAN-13 enter 12 digits, for EAN-8 7, for UPC-A 11 and for ITF-14 13, and the last digit is added for you. If you enter the full number, the check digit is verified.

Can I make up my own EAN number for products?

The tool only draws the barcode. To sell products in shops you need official numbers registered with GS1, the global barcode organization (in Turkey, GS1 Türkiye). Made-up EAN numbers may clash with other products.

Which format should I choose?

EAN-13 (Europe) and UPC-A (North America) are for retail products, EAN-8 for small packages and ITF-14 for shipping cartons. Code 128 encodes any letters and numbers and is common in logistics, and Code 39 is used for simple internal labels.

PNG or SVG?

SVG is a vector file and stays perfectly sharp for print and labels. PNG is a high-resolution image that works in any program. Need a QR code instead? Use the QR Code Generator.
