Yes or No Wheel

Think of your question and spin: yes or no. Both answers have an equal chance. For more fun, add "Maybe" or "Ask again" to the list, or type "Yes*2" to make yes twice as likely.

Shortcut: Space or Ctrl+Enter spins.

The winner is picked by your browser's secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues); the spin is just an animation. Names never leave your device, and we can't see or influence the result.

    Entries

Press Enter for a new line. Paste several lines and each becomes its own entry (up to 200). To weight an entry, add *number after it: "Alice*3" makes Alice's slice, and chance, three times bigger.

How to use Yes or No Wheel

      1. Think of your question (or ask it out loud).
      2. Press "Spin"; when the wheel slows down and stops, there's your answer.
      3. To add answers, type a new line such as "Maybe" or "Ask again tomorrow".

      Frequently asked questions

Do yes and no have the same chance?

Yes, each has exactly a 50% chance. To favour one answer, add a star and a number: "Yes*3" makes the yes slice three times bigger.

Should I use it for big decisions?

The wheel is a fun helper, not an advisor. There is a handy trick, though: if you catch yourself hoping for the other answer the moment the result appears, you've found out what you really want.

Can we play it as a game with friends?

Of course. Use full-screen mode for truth or dare, "are we going out tonight?" or deciding who does the dishes.

Is it rigged? Is the result really random?

No, it isn't rigged. Before the wheel starts turning, the winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues); the wheel then simply animates towards that result. Without weights every entry has exactly the same chance, and neither we nor anyone else can decide the outcome in advance. It all runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. One honest caveat: whoever runs the page can edit the list or keep spinning until they like the result, so for public giveaways the most trustworthy approach is to share the list beforehand and livestream or screen-record the spin.
