Tournament Wheel: Group Draw & Knockout Bracket

It opens with this season's Champions League clubs: draw the groups, let the wheel pick who advances from each, then spin every match through the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. Swap in other leagues or type your own names for a gaming, quiz or office tournament.

      How to use Tournament Wheel: Group Draw & Knockout Bracket

      1. Use the list as it is, load another league from "Ready-made team lists", or type your own names.
      2. Choose the teams per group, how many advance and whether the draw is done with the wheel or automatically, then press "Start tournament".
      3. Spin through the draw, the groups and the knockout matches. Use the "auto" buttons to speed up, "Undo" for an accidental spin, and copy the result to share it.

      Frequently asked questions

      What if the number of teams is not a power of 2?

      The bracket is filled up to the next power of 2 (8, 16, 32…) and the empty places become byes. Byes go to the top seeds (group winners first), who move straight to the next round.

      How is the group draw done?

      With "Draw with the wheel" the wheel picks a team from the pot and places it in the next group (A, B, C… in turn). With "Distribute automatically" the teams are shuffled with secure random numbers and dealt evenly. Group sizes differ by at most one team.

      Is my tournament saved?

      Yes, its state is stored only in this browser, so you can close the page and continue later. "Restart" deletes it, and "Copy result" copies the groups, knockout matches and champion as text.

      Is it rigged? Is the result really random?

      No, it isn't rigged. Before the wheel starts turning, the winner is chosen with your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues); the wheel then simply animates towards that result. Without weights every entry has exactly the same chance, and neither we nor anyone else can decide the outcome in advance. It all runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. One honest caveat: whoever runs the page can edit the list or keep spinning until they like the result, so for public giveaways the most trustworthy approach is to share the list beforehand and livestream or screen-record the spin.
